Sen. John McCain told "CBS Evening News" anchor Scott Pelley Monday that it's too late to worry about Iran becoming involved in the unrest in Syria because they're already there, "supplying arms and equipment" to President Bashar Assad.

There were plenty of Democrats spinning with them in 2002, only they got amnesia when things started to go poorly (in 2003). There are far too many hawks in both parties. They may sometimes support dealing with different trouble areas, but the result is the same (young adults coming home in flag draped metal containers).

Representatives of both parties need to have higher standards before getting U.S. Troops involved in overseas conflicts. The last time we held back before getting involved in a global scrape was WWII.

One more thing, BOTH parties need to cease the nonsense of automatically opposing action if the other side supports it. They need to discuss the REAL REASONS why getting involved in a(nother) overseas fracas is a bad idea (in Iraq, it was because Saddam wasn't a clear and present danger to the U.S. and because it was a tactical error to remove our attention from finishing our far more justified business in Afghanistan), not merely say the other side is lying about why we should jump in on some nation .

Iran has been an agent of chaos in the Middle East and beyond for over thirty years, so it should come as no surprise that they intend to support their Syrian buddy, "head" Bashir Assad. I am much less enthusiastic about the Arab Spring (which, other than Gadhaffi, left the worst of the worst dictators / "Presidents" in place, and which may end up with Islamic Jihadists in power in place of the former somewhat benign thugs in some of these nations) than I was a year ago.

If toppling "head" Bashir means a radical Islamic theocracy takes over Syria, I'd just as soon stay the course with this somewhat benign (that is not meant to minimize the pain the brutalizing of his citizens has brought to the victims and their families) thug. I see nothing worth going to war over, especially since Rootin' Tootin" Putin has decided to side with Syria and Iran, and might have convinced China to join the party as well !!
