- 70 percent of Americans say global warming should be a very high (12%), high (25%), or medium (33%) priority for the president and Congress, including 44 percent of registered Republicans, 72 percent of Independents and 85 percent of Democrats.
- 90 percent of Americans say developing sources of clean energy should be a very high (30%), high (35%), or medium (25%) priority for the president and Congress, including 82 percent of registered Republicans, 91 percent of Independents, and 97 percent of Democrats.
- 54 percent of Americans say that a candidate’s views on global warming will be either the “single most important issue” (2%) or “one of several important issues” (52%) in determining their vote for President next year, including 39 percent of registered Republicans, 55 percent of Independents, and 65 percent of Democrats.

Too bad he didn't call for the other $36+ billion a year. It is a start, I will give him credit for that. And I guess it is better to phase them out and minimize the shock to the fragile economy.
I hope this money goes into development of alternatives.

Ditto. Interesting to see even a sizable percentage of Republicans are pro-environment. Too bad for them that their party has been taken over by their fringe elements.

Many people are .. and they have some understanding what has to be done... it's the Norquist (Transcanada deal - pipelline) , and Koch oil.. with a few others here and there.. that are pulling the strings on the right in congress (Cantor - McConnell)..
I could never understand why anyone would be against saving money by renewable energy instead of spending their hard earn money on dirty oil.. or coal.. or even gas..
