By coating a nanotube in nitrocellulose fuel and igniting one end, we set off a combustion wave along it and learned that a nanotube is an excellent conductor of heat from burning fuel. Even better, the combustion wave creates a strong electric current", he said.

Okay. Now if this principle works for other fuels, fuels easily produced from renewable primary sources, this could improve storage/recovery efficiencies.
Note, this R&D is partially taxpayer funded.
Susan Anthony can you tell me of any that are not, mind you the point here is that all corporations can claim ALL and in some cases MORE ie:250% of R&D so what does that make it?

As far as Taxpayers funding it... The government agencies between grants and low interest loans can assist /help companies in certain areas .. like the Dept of Energy, USDA, and others loan money to companies or start ups that are experimenting or intend to experiment in actions that can help them get on their feet, or invent/create certain aspects that will benefit the country, and the business.
This kind of loan / grants have been going on way before the 65 years I've been around.
The small business administration (SBA) has been doing it..
It isn't anything new.. There are loans and grants that are just sitting there for people to take advantage of.. but rarely use them.. IF people remember that crazy guy that did the commercial trying to sell his book about it.. These are all taxpayer funded grants or small interest loans.. anyone with a little time can find this stuff out on the Internet.
