What's more, Felix will also become the first person to smash through the sound barrier without the aid - or protection - of a machine, travelling at approximately 690mph.

#1 - Wed Feb 8, 2012 11:43 AM ESTThis has not been attempted since the 60's when Joe Kittenger did it during the Excelsior Project directed by the US Air Force. Baumgartner (his last name means 'Tree Gardener' in German) will attempt to go higher and fall faster. I wish him the best of luck.
