HOUSTON (CN) - Married lawyers in their 60s say security guards refused to let them leave The Methodist Hospital, then had the husband taken to jail while the hospital held the woman overnight, injected her with Ativan against her will, and checked her needlessly into its psych ward.

According to the complaint: "On Tuesday, August 17, 2010 Russell Guttshall called 911 for his wife, Lisa Guttshall. They had a dispute, and he feared that she might have overdosed on prescription drugs. Lisa Guttshall was taken by ambulance to Methodist. Russell Guttshall went to Methodist in his car."
The Guttshalls say blood tests showed that Lisa was OK, and they decided to leave the hospital.

This hospital is going to lose a big lawsuit and those security officers will be lucky to avoid jail. I hope they end up cleaning toilets the rest of their lives.

If this is all true.. they should be prosecuted and sent to jail.. along with anyone else that had their hands in this..

Give a wanna-be "Clint Eastwood" a gun and a badge and it'll happen every time.

For approximately 30 years I worked in security in a high tech company....and just like any other job.. one can find people with power and their authority has gone to their head. I fired/terminated a few in my day.. these people just went too damn far with theirs..

It just doesn't happen there, either.
Just about 3 weeks ago, my poor sister-in-law, who is a cancer patient went to the emergency room with an illness. She was discharged at 3:00 am. Not wanting to wake anyone to come and get her at 3:00 am, she was waiting in the emergency waiting room, when the security guard forced her leave, and made her wait, OUTSIDE IN THE COLD RAIN, until the hospital officially opened at 6 am. She had no cell phone to call anyone, and was freezing and cold-- NOT good for someone who is on chemo.
Yes, we have complained, and NO, nothing was done about it. I'm still steaming! We told her to go ahead and call, anytime, from anywhere, and we would come and get her, poor thing.

When working in a hospital setting people who work security should be mindful to the needs of the people.. I would call the administrative's office...and if that doesn't work.. Write a nice editorial that will be seen by many people.. If you have a free paper more than likely they will print it.. The editorials I have put in the free paper where I am.. I have gotten a lot of feedback and action on different issues... I had a postman that was pushing his weight telling me that I needed two mailboxes for the one address.. and I argued with him that I did not.. to make this short.. he knocked over my post and mailbox ..I ended up calling the postmaster general in D.C., and within 1/2 hour I had the postmaster of my town calling, and someone at my home within the hour, replacing my post and box...and the guy terminated.
I have found over the years.. that Crapola certainly does roll down hill.. and so I do not bother with the little guy any more.. I go to the top.. and one thing I learned also.. that the top people hate dealing with stuff that their local people should be taking care of.. and it makes them mad that they have to..
I would write without using too many names not to embarrass or make it more difficult.. I would send a copy to the Administer of the hospital and one to the local paper to print with the complain..You'll get some action...

No she doesn't .. neither does anyone else.. I would contact the administrator's office first.. and not say a word about it.. see what they say and keep record.. quote them if ya can.. if no success.. write the article..
Maybe even go down and meet with someone in the Administrator's office.. bring a pad of paper and jot the things down that they say.. if they say anything.. "You're just taking notes" if they ask..
I did that once with a builder who was going to build on wetlands in the town.. which myself and a few others got the town all in a frazzle over it.... he had to watch what he said.. being afraid of being quoted .. lol The town decided not to grant him the waiver..
