What's Dirtier: A Toilet or Your Keyboard?

Haachooooo! Think your kids are making you sick this time of year? Think again! The answer is at your fingertips.

Don't Get Sick From Your Dirty QWERTY

Your keyboard may have up to 200-400 times more germs than an average toilet seat. A typical keyboard is infected with a crazy amount of germs -- an astonishing 3,295 germs per square inch. Maybe I should be getting a lock on my keyboard instead of the toddler lock for the toilet bowl.

Just think about it -- how many hands touch your computer in the course of a week? And when is the last time you sanitized your keyboard? I randomly wipe mine down while I clean around my desk, but the keys have all those little spaces between them -- just waiting for little germs to hang out and have a party. Nasty. Gross. Blech.

I see my students sneezing, coughing and using the computer keyboards at school with the dirtiest hands ever. Not surprised here.

Clorox wipes have become my life saving classroom tool.

I use both, I clean both, I lick neither. :P

The keyboard I unplug, use a vacuum with small crevice tool, shake it out upside down, and wipe the whole thing down with a 10:1 water/bleach solution.

Fortunately, I am the only one who uses my home and work computer. Rarely, if ever, does anyone else use them (we are a two person office, so that's nice!).

However, when I worked at a larger office, we were ALWAYS getting sick. One reason is because a couple of the desks were in a kind of "common area" and if the phone rang, whoever was near would grab it. It got to the point that we sprayed lysol on cloths and wiped them down regularly.

I get a regular chest/head cold about twice a year. I can't remember when the last time was that I had the flu. .....probably just jinked myself!

people freak out way too much about toilet seats. i mean, think about it. the part that touches the seat is the back of the thighs, which is covered by pants most of the time and comes into very little contact with germs. Its cleaner than most places!

That depends on the bar and how long you were in it.....
