Preston James Phipps was detained by a police officer after he hit the cop with a stuffed monkey.

Police officer Andrew Pirtle was struck by the stuffed animal toy after trying to arrest 24-year-old Mr Phipps, a resident of Des Moines in Iowa, who was seen by Pirtle after robbing a corner store.

He was charged with fifth-degree theft, disorderly conduct and assault on a police officer.

I know this is serious stuff, but the stuffed monkey assault....

This isn't funny, even stuffed monkeys can be useful or so the one, talking to me said, but I remember once, years ago getting assaulted with a stuffed coat, now that wasn't funny, those stiff shirts are nasty, I think rejects from previous campaigns. But I will never know, I do treat all stuffed animals with respect, even politicians, happy, happy, joy joy

    Wow that is ridicules, to me the stuff he stole was just a excuse to go back to jail because he mentioned to the clerk that he was going back anyway so it seems to me this was just something he could do to maybe go back before he was scheduled to. I am glad that no one got seriously hurt though cause this could have ended badly for allot of people involved.

    Can someone please explain to me how a cotton soft, cotton filled, monkey when thrown at a police officer with enough force to make a butterfly fall asleep can be labeled as assault?
