A police report said Carmen Tisch punched and scratched the painting, an oil-on-canvas called "1957-J no.2", at the recently opened Clyfford Still museum in Denver and pulled her pants down to slide her buttocks against it.

What could have possibly been her motivation for doing this?

Her motivation? I'd say it could most likely being brain damaged from drug use. She also dropped her pants, rubbed her butt on the picture and then urinated. No one is a sane state of mind does something like that.

I have seen some really disgusting art by Picasso in the Prado in Madrid. I just turned away in awed disgust but I didn't want to damage anything or keep others from seeing it. It was good to have it up for people to see what a jerk Picasso really was.

I am guessing this woman has some serious mental health things going on and perhaps more news will be forthcoming later as to her mental status. Right now we just don't have enough to go on.

Many folks get real upset with modern and abstract art. This kind of stuff has been going on for years. She is just another idiot with anger management problems.

30 million dollars painting......that any painting would be considered that valuable is just plain ridiculous. Don't get me wrong I like art but really.....what makes anyone saying a painting is that valuable, beside the people like art dealers how are lining their pocket on the back of naive people or" the ones how want to show off to their friend how wealthy and great they are "buyers.
Well it is too bad for the damages to that art piece, that person maybe had some serious mental issues......but really 30 million dollars for a painting is what is so wrong with our society.

Lise, you are right. Society is going to collapse because of art and greatness. We are doomed.

Art ..is one of those things.. that will go as high as it can.. if the market is willing to pay for it.. The same with many stores.. once they see that people are willing to pay a price for something.. then the stores take advantage of it.. Like for instance: CVS from what I found out.. probably like many others.. has 'test stores'.. they raise the price of certain items.. and if it sells in that store eventually all the stores are selling it at a higher price.. The Consumer has more power than they think they do.

IF people stopped buying a certain brand of gas across the nation.. and they actually stuck to it.. that gas station will either cut its price or go out of business.. Smart shoppers shop smartly. I wouldn't pay for a painting at all.. too much can go wrong and then one has to use special care .. along with special atmosphere in the room.. not too dry.. and not too moist.. and only those with real money could afford.. Like buying a hand made Bently
