In the last few days, I’d been hearing something counterintuitive from D.C. area pastors: Some churches were canceling services this Sunday, in honor of Christmas.

There’s no question that Americans’ bond with institutional religion has been weakening in recent decades; in other words, there are tens of millions of Americans who call themselves followers of Jesus Christ but rarely if ever go to church. Including on Christmas.

If the numbers aren't there, I see nothing wrong with it. However...I'm sort of biased. I'm probably not the best person to ask if the question is 'should we have more church?'

Sunday Christ Mass will be cancelled in honor of Christ Mass???

gee when I was a kid, church had and extra Christ Mass on Christ Mass Eve that included a play.. I was a shepherd...

ok.. I'll plan a nice bbq for easter sunday since church will be cancelled in honor of easter...

seriously, I always wondered why everyone gathered at church to pray, when God took the sabbath off work and isn't listening..

What is 'church'? A man-made building with decorations, an assemblance of other people praying and worshiping to their God...passing germs around, coughing and sneezing, with kids not sitting still, and disrupting to others..Why can't One do that in their own home, instead of giving away tax free dollars to the church, one could put the money towards a nice T-bone or Sirloin and have a celebration of the day at home.

I bbq 12 months a year.. saves on the electric bill.. and the food taste better.
