We're all for inventions. But sometimes product designers end up delivering things that are just plain weird, useless, and wasteful.

Don't fall for the temptation to buy one of these six items -- a pet bedwarmer, an egg pillow, and more -- for the hard-to-buy-for members of your family this holiday season

1. Pet Bed Warmer

You can get a lot of wacky stuff at the Sky Mall -- some useful, some not so useful -- but one of the wildest offerings from their pet section this season is the $50 universal pet bed warmer. (Note that "universal" pitch, what does that mean? It works for your dog, cat, and tiger?)

And it's not entirely ridiculous, because the ball melts more slowly than cubes, so your drink won't get watered down as quickly. The press forms the ball from a block of ice in about a minute.

Ice has to melt to chill your beverage. another way to say this.. ball ice takes longer to cool your drink, the end result is that you quickly enjoy your warm beverage and are left with a nice cold round ice to chip a tooth with....

My husband and I don't usually do much for the holidays. We try to get one big purchase together that we can both use. And as for gifts for people, I usually make something or just give a gift card for their favorite store. I love gift cards and for an adult, I don't think they are impersonal. No need to give people stuff they don't like or wont use.

Egg Pillows? Why not just put the eggs back into the carton?

Breakfast is the hardest meal of the day.

The sun rising, baking the earth with its incessant, life-giving rays, serving only to remind me of the emptiness within. Before discovering Vacu Vin Egg Pillows, I was doubly plagued by this monstrosity of a meal. Previously, my eggs, sitting uncomfortably (I now know) on my kitchen table, were frequently overwhelmed by the ennui of this petit déjeuner and would, to end their discomfort and find the only solace they could in this cold, dark world, roll off the table--plunging to a yolky demise.

That, though, was before I discovered Vacu Vin Egg Pillows! Not only are they a bright, cheerful addition to my table, they are a ray of light into my formerly dark soul. Just seeing their vibrant colors each morning in my kitchen has added vim and vigor to my daily routine, which before seemed an endless cycle of birth, malaise, and death. Furthermore, my once-suicidal eggs now remain comfortably seated on their Vacu Vin Egg Pillows, seemingly delighted to be consumed in order to satiate my hunger.

Don't start the day with Sartre--get going in an egg-celent direction with Vacu Vin Egg Pillows!

(Note: From Egg pillow link review, not me, but funny IMO.)

Sure, I see this AFTER I do my Christmas shopping...

Seriously though, my cat would love the pet warmer. I might even consider buying it, as he's really old and is nothing but skin and bones. He cuddles up to anything warm he can find. Oh, wait, I have an electric blanket on my bed and he sleeps with me. Never mind.
