Why is Romney pandering to the most extreme part of the GOP when he just about has the race sewed up, and the rest of the general public believes in global warming and climate action?

Any other candidate can beat Romney by declaring " After all, I am not Mitt Romney". The republicans tried to avoid Mitt by putting all those other clowns out there. They will never accept a Mormon because they believe Mormons are not Christians.
