The "pin-up" style photo of a raw chicken lounging seductively ran in Wednesday's food section of the New York Times along with a story on the appeal of crispy, savory chicken skin. Now the animal cruelty prevention organization is aiming their laser-beam target at the old gray lady.

Tina Loit, the Times photo editor who commissioned the shoot didn't see it that way. "That chicken had attitude," she said of the model, who was propped into a come-hither position with the help of weights and wire.

I declare a fowl ... Chicken over all.. will probably never die out.. it is something that is the most versatile food products we have.. as far as sexy.. if someone sees it this way, than bestiality is not too far away in their future.

Weird picture, but seriously is having an IQ of under 60 a prerequisite to joining PETA? It sure as hell seems like it.

Isn't PETA the one who's setting up a porn site for vegans?

PETA does very little to help animals in truth. They put down thousands of healthy animals every year, but beyond that they do not do much. Some of these animal lovers got in trouble a few years back for throwing the corpses of animals they had senslessly euthanized into a dumpster behind a Grocery Store. Don't waste your time or money with these people there are no kill shelters, and many other organizations that help pets on a much better level.

I think the picture is very clever. Guys, did you check out those thighs?? Peta is really anal about anything pertaining to animals.

I am totally against animal cruelty.. but we are omnivores and we eat meat. They should go ahead and get over that now and maybe focus on puppy mills and that sort of thing.

It's great they want to protect the wildlife and pets.. I think that is fantastic that there is someone out there making sure that people do not harm them like some have by ignoring horses and letting them die from not being fed and taken care of.. or tying up animals in a backyard someplace where there is cruelty involved.. but a lousy chicken .. gawd.. get real.

They really don't do a hell of a lot unless they can get massive publicity from it. Help is not exactly their main agenda. You should see what they actually do with their money. For every pet they find a home they put down 100's. Not because they are sick or unable to be homed, just because. I have no love for PETA and their publicity hounds.

Future History--I so agree with that...I now want to fix a whole chicken just to pose it that way.

Now for that poor chicken's rights: Is that chicken old enough to pose that way? What about all the other chickens? Does this make them feel they are now objectified as sex objects? Did I just make a redundant sentence?

I do wish it would get cold here so I can make some tortilla soup, chicken enchilada soup, chicken noodle soup...yum.

I viewed the chicken and all I could think of is wanting to fire up the oven and roast it. Basting with butter ever 15 to 20 mins. Yum! Serve it with brown rice and english peas

I think you would want to cook it longer than 15-20 minutes unless you have a convection oven ?

NO no no, you baster it every 15-20 minutes with butter. You cook it till it is done. I love me some butter basted chicken, with buttered mash potatoes, and butter beans, and Butter cookies for desert.
