BELMONT, MA—Though Mitt Romney is considered to be a frontrunner for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, the national spotlight has forced him to repeatedly confront a major skeleton in his political closet: that as governor of Massachusetts he once tried to help poor, uninsured sick people

"My hope is that Republican voters will one day forgive me for making it easier for sick people—especially low-income sick people—to go to the hospital and see a doctor," Romney added. "It was wrong, and I'm sorry."

Sen. John McCain once supported the Guest Worker program to help Farmers get the pickers they needed to bring in seasonal crops. He too backtracked based on pressure of "Core Party Values".
The GOP today has to perform in front of the Iowa caucus, they have to pander to their "Core" voters in order to get elected by their "base".
My question to these politician's are simple ones, Are these Core Party Values really something to value that we want to see in every citizen in every region in every municipality or are these Core Values by definition actually outside the mainstream and to be considered radical extremist views held by fundamentalists who refuse to move into the 21st century? Should we vote for politician's who stick to their own ideals or the ones that have no ideals of their own?
Romney was once a right leaning moderate and did the work of the people based on their needs. I couldn't even muster a guess what he stands for today even if he were to tell me face to face. He sold out his own principles for power and those are the politician's that next sell out to the lobbies... Just ask John McCain, John Kerry, Lindsey Grahamn or any of the others who pander to win elections and throw out their ideals for their career.

How sad that the main platform of the Tea Party Republicans has become screwing regular American people and being proud of it......this article, although satire, has a lot of truth in it.

"My hope is that Republican voters will one day forgive me for making it easier for sick people—especially low-income sick people—to go to the hospital and see a doctor," Romney added. "It was wrong, and I'm sorry."
According to Romney, if he could do things over again, he would do everything he could to make certain that uninsured individuals got sicker and sicker until they died. Promising his days of trying to provide medical coverage to the gravely ill are behind him, Romney said that if elected president, he would never even think about increasing anyone's quality of life or trying to lower the infant mortality rate.
LOL!!!
This is about where the GOP platform is today, sad, ironic and true.
Thus far, Romney is polling strongly in early primary states like New Hampshire and Iowa, but Republican strategists and voters agree that even in a general election, his sordid past would continue to dog him.
"I don't think I can vote for someone like that," Pennsylvania Republican Eric Tolbert said. "He says he's sorry, but how do I know that's the real Mitt Romney? What happens if he gets elected and tries to help sick people again?"
"I like Michele Bachmann now," Tolbert added. "Because what this country needs is a president who doesn't give a @!$%# about helping people."
This is satire....or.....isn't it? Sad but I think it could be closer to the truth.
