Congressman Earl Blumenauer of Oregon raised the ire of Republicans when he took to the House floor to assert that the GOP claim that health care reform is a government takeover is a lie. Republican Dan Lundren of California asked that the words be "taken down" because of a breach of decorum.

Oregon strikes again!
I think a breach of decorom might be a legislator yelling. "You Lie!" during a State of the Union Speech by the President of the United States. Being honest to one's own self in public debate cannot but be a virtue.

I'm a little disappointed that Bleumenauer withdrew his words after he was threatened by Lundren. We need Democrats to show some backbone and stand on their principles regardless of the consequences. Petty retribution by Lundren would have been noticed by the media.

Rep. Earl Blumenauer(D-Or), calling a lying Republican a liar to their face is an inexcusable breach of etiquette, except when you have proof of their lie.
Republican Dan Lundren of California, you lie, Rep. Earl Blumenauer(D-Or) was right to call it a lie.

It's all theatre to them -- getting their name on the news, not about decorum.
Right now, with voters more conscious of Republican tactics, I say stand up, call them out for lying, and let people reading their hometown newspapers see how easily they were fooled by that silliness when they heard it before, and hopefully promote a more mature voting result as to who gets to sit in those congressional seats.
