On his radio show today Glenn Beck took aim at Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's October 30th rally, by labeling at progressive plot to win the election. Beck said of the Stewart/Colbert rally, "They are going to activate the youth to try to get them to vote with the labor unions apparently."

Jon Stewart can always manage to make lemonade out of Beck's sour lemon disposition.
Beck failed as a "Rodeo clown" comedian...bet that just irks him into a snit fit.

Oooooooo, we're tho skared. Berckerhead called it progressive. I Guess PROgressive is better than REgressiveness of the right!

libertarians and conservatives parlay and vote = patriotic and GOD fearing, dammit /s/
union members AND liberals fly the American flag in great numbers = GOD-fearing, ostentatious, big-voiced, America loving patriots from sea to shining sea who want their jobs back and could live long and strong without truthiness
Union members AND liberals: proud to be American

YES GLEN its a plot-to LAUGH you off the air.
AND ITS WORKING mmmmuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhahahahahahahahahahahahaahahhah!

Of course it's a plot. It's conspiracy. Stewart and Colbert work for the same network.

Oh no! They're going to get young people and working people to vote. What a nefarious and evil plot.

Hilarious! you have to agree the mad man really can entertain LOL

I have on occasion watched Glenn Beck. He reminds me of this teenager I once knew who wanted to brake into the reform school to liberate his buddies. (true story)
- 15 votes
A plot?
For what?
An economically vibrant Middle Class who wants to preserve civil rights and a legally protected safety net for which they have paid taxes for 40 years?
Imagine their nerve.
- 35 votes
This guy's getting rich with this drivel, must be a lot of suckers buying gold out there.
- 17 votes
Just imagine how he'll react if more people show up for Stewart\Colbert than showed up for his rally.
- 30 votes
Apparently, Beck has no sense of humor whatsoever.
Beck....it's a joke....it's making fun of how ridiculous our political system and debate is. Get it?
- 13 votes
I just graduated from Beck university and it was all explained to me. You see, the problem with progressives is that they want progression, or in other words to progress. Now bare with me on this, I don't have my Beck U approved chalkboard with me so this may get a little convoluted.
Now in order to progress, or go FORWARD, means that you have to be going somewhere you have never been before. If you are going somewhere you have never been, it's sad and scary BECAUSE, well I forget that part but it's sad and scary. Hold on a sec I left my Vick's in the car.
Ok, I'm back. Oh and I'm sad, that's why I'm crying, cause I may be heading somewhere I've never been. Like the Office Depot a few miles down the road. I really don't like the looks of that place, seems to me it's filled with progressives, or marxists at least. Much better to stick with Kinkos, oh wait they are now owned by Fed-ex. Boy this was much easier when Glenn was explaining it to me.
Anyway, my eyes are really burning and I think my brain is melting. You all get the general idea though, don't you?

No @!$%# Sherlock.

- 10 votes
I think it IS a progressive plot.
To progress back to sanity.
I said it!
- 14 votes
I agree with the article writer, Beck's afraid that the "Restore Sanity" rally will out preform beck's "I have a scheme" rally.
- 11 votes
For Glenn Beck to get a joke he'd have to be self-aware, which he obviously isn't. He hasn't even a clue what he has said from one moment to the next, as indicated by how often he contradicts himself.
- 6 votes
Well, at least it gives Beck another thing to fear. He savors fear like some savor fine wine.
- 5 votes
No Ruilt! They're afraid that it will point out the total hypocrisy of Beck and his fascist pig views.

Teapublicans are terrified of the voters, and would prefer that most of them stay home.
You just nailed it, max!
- 8 votes
Yeah most of them aren't concerned about the state of the country or upholding the constitution, but rather getting their party back into power no matter what it takes.
- 2 votes
I agree 150 percent with Glen Beck. This man is a saint and a prophet of truthiness. Glen helps me to stay in touch with my inner truthiness by reminding me how facts are destroying our country!
How will the wealthy big business owners, share holders and corporations continue to build on their profits without hiring if you continue supporting things such as letting the Bush tax cuts expire for all but the poor and middle class?!
Where's your support of the American Tea Party dream of no social security, no unemployment safety net, no medicare, no medicaid, no barry-care and no self care of your penis and/or vagina! That's right, I said it. America's founding fathers were anti-masturbationalists as well, you can look it up. You won't find this bit of truthiness in you elitist books. You'll find it in my gut!!
So if any of my fellow friends of truthiness are curious and are planning to attend this rally to destroy America's unreasonableness or as I like to call it, "anti-capitalism-undercover-Muslims-for-Communism-chronic-masturbation-fest" I'd advise you to bring some kleenex and for God's sake if some one offers you some clam chowder just say no!!!

Damn right it's a "progressive plot". After all, progressivism is a valid political ideology and anyone that supports it has the right to promote it.
Lemme guess, Mr. Beck's rally was not a "conservative plot"?

So let me get this straight, a march to restore sanity is a progressive plot? I say plot away folks!

They add levity to an existing negative media... they do it in a way that hits the point right on without so much rhetoric.. they do it through comedy.. they make the average person think in a Logical way.. and those with the strong mind will grasp what they are talking about and laugh..
- 21 votes
Getting up there in age myself. But I will be there! I was just planning out tickets.
The only thing I need to decide it whether to run more with Stewart or Colbert. The sincere concerns or the absurdly fun? Still working on it.
- 10 votes
They add levity to an existing negative media
Exactly. Beck is a commentator ( he himself said he's not a journalist bound by any kind of ethics to check facts ) and nothing more, and the same could be said for Stewart except that he's a comedian and for the jokes to work there has to be some fact involved.
So we have 2 different commentators with the differences being 1) one is trying to make us laugh while thinking about the stupidity our politicians put out there while the other tries to be melodramatic with fearmongering and VapoRub tears, 2) the one who makes us laugh won't turn down any material, which makes him equal-opportunity at picking on the parties ( but one offers a lot more opportunities than the other ), and 3) while Stewart also doesn't have to worry about journalistic integrity standards, he'd lose viewers if any of the points he made in his comedy turned out to be as full of BS as the FEMA camps and such.
It's also funny how Stewart's rally is targeted for anyone not in the extreme, but that's too far left for Beck.
- 12 votes
I was going to say "I'm 50 and I love him too"....am I old???? Wish someone would have told me that at 40.

Stewart is on O'Reilly tonight. O"Reilly's on Fox News at 5 and 8 Pacific (8 and 11 Eastern). Check it out.

We should rely on aging men who cry hysterically. That's the real American way.
- 44 votes
You guys rely on Comedy Central shows for your political aims? I love it!
What's wrong with Comedians pushing the message: "Take it down a notch, America". The only issue at this rally is getting people to calm down.
"I disagree with you but think in no way that you're Hitler"
- 28 votes
How many of you left-leaners are going to catch Stewart on O'Reilly TONIGHT? (5/8 Pacific)
Longhorn, I'm all about toning it down too.
- 3 votes
Brent- I lean a little to the left, but, I watch O'Reilly (hell, I've read two of his books)...count me in!
- 9 votes
I will. Hopefully he's on immediately, because I can only stand listening to O'Reilly's lies for so long.
- 24 votes
No, I don't rely on Comedy Central show for my political aims, I watch Jon Stewart and Steve Colbert because they express my total disgust with Elder Beck, Sister Palin, Silly Billy O"Reilly and Fox Noise in general.
- 29 votes
Longhorn, I'm all about toning it down too.
and it's a good thing the rally is 'Tone it down, America'... that means the whole country. Nobody said 'tone it down right-wing nutjobs' (though they're the loudest at the moment.)
- 11 votes
I will be watching it Brent! Seen him on O'Reilly a couple times....
- 6 votes
Stevie, hate to break it to you, but O'Reilly and Stewart are friends. I can't count how many times Stewart's been on. And O'Reilly's been on Stewart and Colbert.
O'Reilly's not the same as Hannity. Hannity slants everything right. O'Reilly is an admitted conservative who has debates with liberals and conservatives. I look at O'Reilly the same as Mattews-they have their opinions, but they also have enough respect across the aisle to get main stream opposition on their show for an adult conversation.
Believe it or not, O'Reilly actually defends Obama.
Someone should seed an article about the segment and all of us can jump on it again tomorrow.....
- 8 votes
How many of you left-leaners are going to catch Stewart on O'Reilly TONIGHT?
Good question. Do I want to catch the version that's edited to make O'Reilly look good tonight or wait for an unedited version to be released later?
So much for "No spin zone."
- 12 votes
How many of you left-leaners are going to catch Stewart on O'Reilly TONIGHT?
That would mean I'd have to watch...[shudder]...Fox?!
- 12 votes
That's always good for a hoot, Stewart and O'Reilly. O'Reilly will enevitably make some derogatory remark attacking Stewarts audience or that he has a comedy show. When I have seen that though, it is usually O'Reilly deflecting Stewart for calling him out on some BS.
I don't get my political beliefs from the Daily Show, but it seems the only place where politicians in general, left and right, are called out on the BS that they so love to propagate.
If someone in Washington actually had the guts to stand up for the truth, and not continually spread packs of lies, I would listen to them too, but I am just tired of listening to all of the 'forked tongues.'
- 8 votes
There's only one version Yosho.
Well then, Brent, since you haven't bothered checking out how O'Reilly has done selective editing before, I'll spell it out for you.
While there may only be "one version" playing at the time you specified, I likely won't watch it at that time and will likely wait to see if previous incidents are repeated where a less-edited version comes out that doesn't leave O'Reilly looking better than he actually was.
Besides, why support a foul-mouthed guy who's been accused of sexual harrassment yet preaches "family valkues" even if he doesn't edit the hell out of this interviw with Stewart this time. I've seen enough of o"Reilly's show in the past and noticed his flawed "logic" and hypocrisy before Stewart was there to point out how it's funny.
- 8 votes
Show me where there's been more than one version Yosho.
You need to get your Fox data from Fox instead of Olbermann-you're not making any sense.
- 4 votes
I watched the first interview on Fox and didn't think O'Reilly was trying to make Stewart look bad.
I watched this full version and thought it was a great interview with back and forth from both. O'Reilly was even smiling. Both seemed to have had a good time talking.
The operative word is "Talking".

I look at O'Reilly the same as Mattews-they have their opinions, but they also have enough respect across the aisle to get main stream opposition on their show for an adult conversation.
It's actually true, there are occasions when O'Reilly has been the voice of reason. Although he IS too often part of the Media Infotainment Circus (with its Left and Right Rings) for my taste. But what can I say, I prefer intellectual discourse, not emotional theatrics...

Brent 'You need to get your Fox data from Fox'..I was enjoying this. What is your reply to Jatus #5.18

Stewart always drops in on O'Reilly. Its a love hate relationship I swear.

Funny how Brent seems to have vanished since Jatsu provided the link about O'Reilly's editing...
And the "wrong night" aspect makes me especiaally happy I decided to wait for the "extended edition."
- 2 votes
I haven't gone anywhere Lola. I was waiting for the interview to air to come back for the cat fight.
Responding to #5.18, editorial decisions by Fox will be hated by ideologues on the left regardless of the truth. The Gawker article linked in 5.18 is "subjective". The FACT that O'Reilly posts the ENTIRE INTERVIEW on line for all to see AND SAYS SO during the tv spot proves he has nothing to hide.
Lola, apologies, I knew the interview was on Wednesday-I was a day off. And I didn't figure it out myself until I watched O'Reilly Tuesday..... ;-)

Oh my god, what has this country come to when our youth can exercise their right to vote, and people can actually hold rallies and allow them to come! Don't these people know that only old people dressed in powdered wigs, carrying signs with the "n" word misspelled can vote?? It's in the constitution! Glenn Beck told me!
- 34 votes
Yeah Beck only believes its constitutional when it applies to him. When anyone else does such things, its a communist, socialist, marxist plot out to destroy america. Because somehow its gotten to where only those on the right are "real patriotic americans" while the rest of us are somehow lesser or non americans. Hate to tell you this Beck. But this is our country too.

That's what one gets for being a "commentator" who takes his liberty to not check facts to an extreme.
What gets me is how many suckers but Becks books, which are likely just as thoroughly researched, as Gospel truth.

I am not young either I am Old according to my kids lol, and I know a few more families going in our age group as well. Be even more scared Beck, cause it won't be all youth =P. And Glen maybe stupid but I think he knows Colbert's show is all satire

Glenn Beck Calls Stewart/Colbert Rally a Progressive Plot
Funny how those two couldn't come up with the idea on their own.
It took "Glenn" to give them the idea.
Gotta love Liberals. Nothing comes to mind on their own, but they are funny when they try.
Love their comedy shows.

It's the "Oh Ya, we can do it too" moment.
The real question will be the doctoring of the audience photos....

I hope they absurdly exaggerate the number attending: 12.5 million for Stewart, 12.5 billion for Colbert.

The real question will be the doctoring of the audience photos....
Now the Left would never allow that to happen, especially on a comedy show. LOL!
I can see it now. Pictures of the entire DC area with little colored dots all over it.

It took "Glenn" to give them the idea.
It's called "satire", greg, which usually involves the object of the satire acting first.

It's called "satire",
Really?
Just wondering why they wouldn't have tried to boost their show's before "Beck". Hmmmm!
Satire, Ya, That's it! Especially from Stewart.
I hope they absurdly exaggerate the number attending: 12.5 million for Stewart, 12.5 billion for Colbert.
I'm hoping for undoctored crowd photos that show an obviously larger crowd than at Beck's rally. I doubt it'll actually happen, but it would be great.

I'm hoping for undoctored crowd photos that show an obviously larger crowd than at Beck's rally.
That would be beautiful.
- 8 votes
Tthey wont get as many attending because they are not offering free bus rides to the rally like Beck did!!
- 8 votes
Actually, there could be more. The number of total attending plus maybe attending on the Facebook event page created Friday is only a couple hundred away from the number of Likes the Beck rally's page has since being created in January. Plus, Stewart gets higher ratings than Beck, and much higher ratings among people that aren't sitting at home at 5:00 on a work day.
- 13 votes
The reason for Beck's rallies being so small is, he all ready shot him self with the women of America cutting of half of the voters he might have had. And he won't recover from that one.

It has been the late 40's & early 50's I can remember this country going bonkers over suck right wing idiots. Back then the Warren Court help to cool them off. This is not true with the Robert's court. It will have to be up to the media to start reporting the truth and quit hiding behind non-partisanship.
- 7 votes
dagumster, Oh how well I recall those dark days. And I think Jon Stewart is one that is learning from history. It will be interesting to see Jon with Silly Billy tonight.
- 6 votes
Well that quote just shows how much Peck knows. The youth? The "youth" have grown up and are now in their in 30s, 40s and 50s. People watch Colbert and Stewart because they need a break from all the lies being spread by the A-Holes at Fixed Noise. These guys point out the hypocrisy on a daily basis through comedy and I love it. It's going to be a great time for those of us who have grown up watching the Daily Show. I will be happy to see a gathering of REAL AMERICANS who are fed up with the lies and hatred being spewn on 24-7 cable news. This is what is destroying our country. People are insane - hence Restoring Sanity.
- 13 votes

It's totally unfair to compare the two rallies.
Stewart and Colbert are intelligent, insightful political satirists -- i.e., high-brow entertainers ... whereas as Beck is a bombastic, boorish buffoon who can't spell -- i.e., low-brow entertainer.
As I said, no comparison.
