Let's have everyone own a gun... we can settle things.. like lessening the population because someone is bullying a kid, or someone took your parking spot.. hell.. eventually we can release all the cops from their jobs and save money there.. no more judicial system.. it would be great.. that and bringing back the shootout.. Draw!

Judson ISD police searched the woman's home and vehicle and did not find a gun, the spokesperson said.
That's when authorities decided to re-interview the students and found some inconsistencies.
Investigators reviewing the surveillance video could not positively determine whether or not an actual gun was involved in the altercation.
I commented about this on another thread.
I was raised in a community where sports was "everything", and the fate of the entire world seemed to hang in the balance on the outcome of an athletic event....and there was violence....knives waved, fists thrown...and once some of our students even tried to run an opposing team's bus off the road on ice.
I always found the attitude and actions disgusting and insane!
I even called the principal at the school who had the bus incident and requested that they file charges against our students because our school would do nothing to address it in any way since our students were athletes and "popular" and "connected" in our community....but the principal would not file charges.

We live in a society today.. that rewards bad behavior.. Parents are some times worse than the kids.. or should I write... Parents are the problem in their childrens behavior...
I watch Judge Judy religiously.. she tells it like it is .. and she doesn't take any guff... a perfect example of this kind of parenting.. is a mother as defendant because of her sons actions.. she got upset with another mother because this other mother was infuriated that her son were in a fight.. so the plantiff went over to the defendants house.. and was outside (they knew each other) and wanted to know what was going on.. well the defendant (mother) came outside and started to punch the plaintiff in front of many other kids... that was the gist of it..
Parent's teach their kids not only through words alone.. but through actions mostly... I used to get into fights in school.. short temper.. not once did my folks stand by me even if it wasn't my fault.. they use to say.. its your mess.. fix it.. If I caused trouble .. I'd get grabbed by a teacher detention.. then when I got home.. my father would give it to me but good.. backhand or the belt..I spent one entire summer in my room..other than raking, mowing, painting..and doing other household chores...but I couldn't leave the yard.. This is what is missing today with kids.. they need a firm decision and hand at home.. IF you get into trouble do not count on it getting any easier at home.

I agree that parents who care about their childrens' moral character make all of the difference in the world.
My daughters begged me to allow them to play basketball....and I finally gave in as long as their grades did not suffer. They were both straight A students and I would not give an inch on my "requirement". My younger daughter was class valedictorian....and graduated the U of AR Sam Walton Business College with a 3.9 grade average....and has a very good job.
I stressed that athletics were for fun and that schools were for learning....and I expected them to give it their best shot in everything that they done - which included athletics if I was going to have to invest my time and money in supporting their choice to participate.
I went to the games to make sure that they were not harmed....and often sat with the parents from the opposing team because they were usually "nicer"...but not always.

That is exactly the way to handle it.. Priority is education.. not sports...sports is great exercise and a stress breaker.. it allows a child to express themselves .. independent accomplishment.. makes them feel good about themselves.. self-confident.. which is shown through their academic achievements.
It is true.. Monkey see.. monkey do... and the way they express themselves towards others.. if the parents are polite and non-combatant towards others the child will also be.. IF the parents control their children and not the outside influences. IF the parents are not involved in a child's life.. then the outside sources will be.
