The Iowa egg producer that federal officials say is at the center of a salmonella outbreak and recalls of more than a half-billion eggs has repeatedly paid fines and settled complaints over health and safety violations and allegations ranging from maintaining a "sexually hostile work environment" to abusing the hens that lay the eggs.

It seems that the owners are, at best, career scoff-laws. This would be a good place to start enforcing hiring laws. Put the owners in jail for illegal labor practices and illegal hiring, and in months these practices will stop. Fines mean nothing to these men, who will make up for these incidental costs by cutting more corners and breaking more laws.

It's time the owners spend some time in jail.

Then the yolk will be on them... hell.. that just cracks me up.. they better scramble if they know what is good for them.

People who put the health of the nation in harms way deserve no appeal process.. straight to the gallows .. hanging from a tall tree.

Yeah, they have feces all over their egg. And still sell them.

Therein lies the problem. "Lays" the problem?

My guess is that these owners and managers are huge GOP supporters. They are protected from our laws and break them without thought or compunction. People are getting hurt due to this criminality. An investigation is welcome, with a public airing of all its findings.

Are Iowa, Maine, and Maryland among the states where it is illegal to speak poorly about the corporate food supply system? Would a journalist, or citizen, seeking to expose these people be the one to end up in jail? Only in America. Or some other fascist nation.

Yes. And on dairy farms. And in horse stables. I know the "poop." This organization didn't manage theirs well, it was pointed out. Read the article, if you haven't. These folks were cutting corners at every turn. One does not produce 500,000,000 poisonous eggs in a well-managed facility/organization. That's a contagion on an epic scale, Ben.

The owners are negligent. They are criminally negligent, for their negligence resulted in crimes. It's against the law to poison people, Ben.

I was trying to be a wise-ass, I must clarify, in the spirit of the two above posts. That was also meant as a play on "egg on their faces." Sorry I missed that pun.

Nevertheless, poisonous eggs were sold and profited from, and another 500,000,000 were released into the market for human consumption without knowing whether they are good, or poisonous. That's the important point in all of this.
