The 32 ounce package of Publix jumbo beef franks was valued at $6.99. The wiener packaging describes the dogs as "meaty & delicious" and as having "no fillers."

I like authors that leave no details omitted. XD

I normally feel pretty bad for people that have to steal food, they must be in a bad way. I wanted to think this was funny...with buns and wieners and all...but it didn't work. I actually feel bad for this guy.

    K-joy - Hey!

The problem with this is .. that in most cities and towns.. there are food pantries.. or at least assistance through food stamp program...

This is true, but that is assuming he knows where they are. If I were suddenly put in a position where I had no food I am not so sure where I would go? Now... it is very possible this fella spent his money on things he shouldn't have, but there is something heart breaking about thinking someone is actually hungry.

It is not worth the cost of court, the cost to being fingerprinted and photo, and the time in jail waiting to be processed through the court for a $4-5.00 item... It could end up costing between 100 - 1000 times more in the long run...

I understand what you are saying.. just I cannot see taking something.. especially with the risk for doing so..

or at least assistance through food stamp program...

That may be true, yet, w all the unemployed, state agencies and the food stamp program is gettin' stretched. The "poverty level" is needed to be adjusted, yet, I don't see that happening.

Well I bet this will be the first time a male officer can say to another male "stop and remove the wieners from your pants" and not feel a little awkward.
