Adding as little as 10 teaspoons of olive oil to your daily diet could help protect women against breast cancer, Spanish researchers say.

The findings, published in the journal of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), show that olive oil mounts a multi-pronged attack on cancer tumours, stunting their growth, driving their cells to implode and protecting against potentially cancerous damage to DNA.

Par I like what the study has found pertaining to fighting cancer, but that is an extra 900 calories a day. That would pack some weight on quickly and then that might lead to a entirely new set of problems. Sounds like a catch 22 somewhat. I have a friend who swears by the Mediterranean diet, She has been practicing it for quite some time now.

Hey Kimberly !!

I believe in moderation and eating the right foods...

There is an old saying : "A person eats to live, not live to eat" and eat in moderation and cook the right foods, and plenty of veggies.

You play it smart!

More people should learn that lesson... people should always walk away from the table feeling hungry.. food should 'sustain' not overwhelm.

Sometimes it is overwhelming and easy to get caught up in. For me the healthier I try to become the more overwhelming it is. When you are watching it Par....visuals and thousands of choices are everywhere! =(

Like many things in life food can be an addiction... people literally eat themselves to death.

Yup.. it would be fun to have free rein in a grocery store say $1,000 one could spend.. but I would rather be in a fish market .. imagining how many 2.5# New England lobsters I could get..

.....Oh, I almost missed that one MDC, I had to read it twice!

You made me laugh.Good thing I was laughing about a cartoon character. You know because cancer is no laughing matter, I did some more reading on it last night. This article makes a lot of sense. I just can't help but wonder about all the extra weight you might gain.

I think it depends on how you use the olive oil. I use it a lot and I'm what you would call rather thin.
