Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a common viral illness in infants and children, although adults can become infected also. Since the beginning of 2010, an increasing number of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) cases has been reported in China. In March, more than 77,000 cases and 40 deaths were reported to the China Ministry of Health.
