Facebook users will be able to see where their friends are starting next month.

The social networking juggernaut will roll out location status updates - showing where friends are in news feeds.

A New York Times blog reported that the new features will be announced at f8, the company's annual developer conference, in April.

The reason I got away from Facebook.. is that it is dangerous to be on it.. My system was attacked several times.. and the so-called games lure you in, and then some ask for a credit card.. which one knows not to do..I had to have my computer repaired on one attack.. that I deleted my account and will never stray there again..

Now add this to the mix what they plan on doing.. no way ever Jose'

You have to be pretty careful with your information on any social networking site and ensure that you don't give your information to a phishing site accidentally. Personally, I love Facebook, but I have been it since the very beginning (2004) back when it was only open to select colleges and universities. I kind of miss the smaller feel that it had back then. Now it's got 400 million users or so.

As long as this new feature is something you can opt-out of, I think I'll be able to protect my privacy.

I like fb for the one fact that I have friends all over the world. We were tight on college, and after graduation, we just moved to the ends of the earth. This site helps me keep in touch with them.

I also had a friend who was buried under the rubble in haiti for 65 hours, and the site kept everyone posted. We saw his rescue and were able to contact his family immediately via fb.

I don't do the apps... all the games to play, or the questions etc... don't give your phone #... a friend got scammed with that one... she got all these texts and it cost her a fortune.

What is farmville?

A game where you do rote tasks to build a virtual farm (with crops, buildings, animals, etc). It is the most popular game at the social sites FB and MS.

FB, Google, Bing, MySpace...they all collect and most sell personal data. Big Brother is not just the govt but the Corportocracy also.

I was hoping for something really juicy and slightly twisted - that sounds like a very tedious way to pass the time!

It's actually quite fun!

Like life, Farmville is what you make of it.

Okay I'm confused. I have an account but the only thing in my profile is the e-mail I had to use to sign up. I still haven't joined any groups or friends.

Is facebook itself being hacked and the accounts data stolen, or is this just a case of attacks that individuals have to allow to happen by using optional portions of facebook?

I have a lot of old Mil contacts on a few groups, but if mere use is vulnerable then it's not worth it.
