BRITAIN'S bigger girls have a bone to pick with Selfridges... for SQUEEZING them out of their snooty stores.

Larger ladies are asking what's your beef, after the flagship Oxford Street store decided their faces didn't fit and CLOSED its plus size section.

They have the right to refuse service to anyone.

Maybe they will convince the ladies to loose some weight.

Hi Nan-813417

This doesn't just seem mean to me. It's Snobby and stupid. Big Girls deserve to look good too. I hope there's a nice shop somewhere in that neighborhood, that caters better clothes to all sizes of women. And I hope they run this snobby Label into the ground.

By the way. May you have good fortune, in the coming new year...

If there really is such a huge number of plus-size women in Britain, then it was a stupid business move removing these sizes from their stores. They'll lose money to competitors and either they'll reconsider and put the plus sizes back in, or they'll go under.

The business world isn't generally forgiving of mistakes like this one.

alkimija, so true. I think even if they put the plus sizes back into sale, that the plus size women would boycott them. They have been told that they are not welcome to shop there. That is what they would remember.

They just need to start a sister, plus-size store called "Raidthefridges".

Then, everybody is happy.

oh, booo-hooo! Size discrimination has existed in the realm of men's clothes since the beginning of time. I can only buy clothes at walmart and kmart now... I'm 6'5" and 290 LBS... I'm no male model... but I'm certainly not morbidly obese. Clothing companies decide what size people they want in their clothes... and everybody just has to deal with it. THIS is only a big deal cuz women complain more and NEED current fashions... men just say "well... guess they don't want my money!" and go wear walmart brand (faded glory is my best friend lol).

Old Navy did the same thing, they took their plus size sections out of their stores, the only thing they did do though was put the plus sizes online. I dont know how much business they do online with the plus size women, but IMO plus size ladies want to look nice also. And someone earlier said that plus size people spend their money on junk food, that is so far from being the truth.

And when you're big... you gotta try stuff on before you buy it. Old navy lost my business years ago lol

Half the women in the country are size 16 and above, yet you'll be hard pushed to find anything in those sizes on display in Selfridges.

Sounds like some dumb ass made a huge, horrible business mistake. No pun intended.=) Looks like business suicide actually.

There are those of us caught in the crossfire with a plus-sized chest and a "regular-sized" lower half. Shopping is getting harder and harder for folks like me. :(

It would make a world of difference if sizes were a bit more uniformed.

Heh. Try being me, my legs are so short even petite inseamed pants and long skirts need tailoring so I don't trip on them, yet I have a tummy, broad hips and shoulders, but short arms, so I need a regular top with tailored arms (or I have to roll sleeves up).

I hate clothes shopping just for that reason.

Oh wow ! I think that would over-complicate the issue and take all the fun out of it.

I've learned to go with mostly black, because it helps match things up better. Somehow, I can't have a "set" of anything, because the bottom or the top one won't fit. So, if most everything is black, I can switch and swap enough to stay well blended without spending too much money. Only a few exceptions in my closet to the black rule.

One of my favorites, though, are dresses that are not form-fitting and can hang easily from my shoulders. I usually go with mid-calf lengths, but I occasionally find a mid-thigh style that I like.
