4 Years Old!!??? This poor little boy needs counseling badly. His mom says his dad is in prison, so he wants to get in trouble so he can go there to be with him?? Child Services needs to step in here, and I'm not one to suggest that normally! What a sad thing! :-(

At 4 years old, the kid is too young to think up the scenario that his mother made up for him.

Karl, Well it is incredibly sad. His mother needs to have him taken away. If he managed to "get a beer out of the cooler in back" as she said, then it is in his reach and he must see her drink and made the connection! This just sickens me and I am outraged for that poor kid.

Only in the Glorious South!

When will this region stop embarrassing the "real" America?

He needs foster care and serious counseling.

Agreed. The sooner the better. At four years old, a kid does not have the cognitive ability to intentionally do all the crimes involved here. His current environment probably is the predominant factor in his behavior. Get him out of there ASAP!

Sorry, foster care is "socialism." The only solution is to put the mother into some kind of education program.

Ooops, parenting classes are "socialism." This only means that she must be forced by the court system to pay for them. However, with the husband in jail, she might not be able to put food on the table for her kid, so she'll need food stamps.

Oooops, food stamps are "socialism." They'll have to move in with a relative or friends to help take care of them. Hopefully, they have relatives or friends to do so. If not, there are always homeless shelters.

Oooops, homeless shelters are "socialism." The only recourse for them at this point is to die. That would be the patriotic thing for them to do instead of being a burden on the average american citizen.

Sorry - dying has a socialistic attachment to that too.. coroner, mortician, and burial. If you go by way of a Doctor, hospital, and then coroner, mortician, burial.. then you have tapped into a social network of services...

Do not throw out the trash and expect the trash people to pick it up.. and if you have a fire in your home, or you need the police..

This story I have seen on the news touched my heart. This 4 year old boy only misses his daddy and wants to be with him. From a 4 year old perspective, this does seem to be a way to accomplish this. That was his only motive in the things he did. Read up more about the details of the story from other sources. I see no way so far that the mother has been neglectful. It could happen to any parent. Also, this boy does not need serious counseling for his behavior, this comment must be coming from someone who does not understand children. He might benefit though from having someone to discuss his feelings. I wish them better days ahead.

Although I might feel badly about the life this kid might have if he is still with that 'great' mother of his.. and the family life... I denounce the idea of making excuses for any person young or old.. we are dealt the hand we are given.. and each of us have choices in our lives.. and many are lucky to have the family unit to nurture and inspire us to do better things.. But I will never put an excuse in for someone else's trouble... there should be no excuse for what a parent does to a child, or a father does to the family... you get one chance in this life to be as honest as one can, and respect individuals for whom they are.. if you break societies laws.. and you do something that you shouldn't .. then there is no excuse for what has been done.. and what is left is to take the punishment/consequence.

A child this young has no mindset what so ever into what is right and wrong.. it is up to the parents to illustrate and to give a foundation to the child so they grow into a respectful person... however.. the kid doesn't have that going for them.. so it should be left to others to do.. Unfortunately many parents today do not teach their children right from wrong, and that there are consequences for their actions.. all one has to do is go to the city and drive around and you will see kids out until all hours of the morning .. day and night.. drugs, gangs, guns, prostitution, children having babies.. it is a sick world.. and most of it is sick because of parents who do not care about anything except themselves... the actions that one does . there is no excuse for..
