COPENHAGEN — U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton swept into Copenhagen on Thursday with a $100-billion deal for developing countries, giving a new burst of energy to flagging climate talks.

"The U.S. is ready to do our part," Clinton said.

But the announcement comes with a large string attached. Speaking directly to China's resistance to have international oversight of emissions monitoring written into a climate change pact, Clinton said there must be transparency.

I support this, why does the US get attacked for our Carbon footprint, when China produces more carbon then us? It's time for China to grow and stop using the "were a developing country" excuse.

China,s commitment to regulatory controls is very important, if COP 15 is to go forward with some level of implementation. China is now the leading emiter of Ghg,s and with their rapidly expanding economy, they will become the greatest polluters in history. It is estimated that they will double economic output over the next decade. So, with their current proposal to limit increases to 50/55% of their peak year, they will then equal all the pollution the US ever created in a much shorter time frame. If GW is an actuality, the world is in trouble because this will offset all attempts made by the EU and US. Then there is also India, who has the same increases/economic development from current levels.

China will never be accountable and our government is unable to do anything about it. All we are doing is digging a bigger hole for ourself. Ask all of Congress and the administration to resign. This is stupid and we should not have to put up with for any more years.
