A Indian husband gambled his wife away after he lost a game of cards.

The woman reportedly managed to escape from the house of the man who "won" her and complained to the police.

The incident occurred in the village of Billauchpura around 250 miles from the city of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.

The real question: Did the man lose on purpose? I know several men that would have said 'Honey I'm sorry but I lost you in a card game' then secretly been happy to be free of her.

Belle - Hey!

Yes.. if the guy is financially secure.. then that would be a good way.. unfortunately in the U.S. it would never fly.. because we have no custom like that.. and a woman in the United States do know how to speak up, and men are out numbered.. ;)

...and the men know that the women would form their own card game and try to pawn off their husbands...for the infamous 'honey do' list :)
