The Arab journalist who threw shoes at former US President George Bush in protest at the Iraq war has had a taste of his own medicine – after an angry intruder hurled footwear at him.

Muntadhar al-Zaidi became a hero across the Arab world when he threw his shoes at George Bush in Baghdad in December 2008.

But the anti-war pin up was targeted by a copy-cat shoe chucker at a news conference in Paris today.
