How many of these do not make the Main Stream Media? There is much to fix and study regarding Nuclear Power plants and if anyone says their safe.. their crazy.. all it takes is just one to cause a horrific side affect to our lives.

We don't hear about this stuff because the "main stream media" & Faux are too busy "reporting" about what Sara Palin is doing, or what Rush said today, or what insane thing Beck is doing / saying, or talking about Tiger Woods or some other "celebraty" is doing. I mean four police officers were gunned down, but that is not as big a story as what is going on with Tiger woods. There are wars going on, but the top news is so and so and their new "reality" show. This is why I don't watch TV.

You're right... the important stuff doesn't matter.. unless it suits their agenda.

Probably many, but since an Unusual Event puts none of the public in danger, why does it matter?

That is the way most people look at it now, if there isn't a death toll then is it really news. It is more news than what this or that celebrity is doing, who is banging who or whatever drug, or is going to be on this or that show.

It's no more news than an overflow at gas station - dangerous to those working perhaps, but not the public, and therefore below notice.

Radiation and radioactive materials aren't some magical killing thing.

Noah built the ark....before the flood.

We as a nation need to stop being so reactionary.

The main news stations and govt. agencies will not announce something this small because they do not want any more negatives brought towards Nuclear plants...as there already is. However.. Iran is helping that cause against them.. and the Billions that it is going to take to clean up Yucca Flats in Nevada from the U.S. testing...

Except that we have a solution to nuclear waste, which is reprocessing, and neutron bombardment by Thorium neutrons to deactivate the remaining waste.

Knee jerk reactions like this help no one.

It does a person good to know what they have in their backyard.. in the U.S. 70% of all Nuclear Power Plants are from the Mississippi River to the east coast.. and 2 of them already had their failings.. 3 mile island and Seabrook. Knee jerk reaction is better than no reaction or a lackadaisical one.

You guys make me feel so much better since I am sitting less than 10 miles from the Sequoyah Nuclear plant...Hopefully I am close enough I'll just vaporize or something pleasant like that.

I live less than 50 miles from Browns Ferry and less than 40 miles from Bellafonte. The risks are well understood and we have not had an accident in 30 years.

You must live in BAMA, then. I spent 16 years there in NW AL. Moved to Chatt. to take care of my folks.

I have always been nervous being this close, but what do you do? The site of those towers everyday is a bit unnerving even after 2 years of being here. Especially after TVA had that big spill up in the Kingston area, it make you wonder what else they are fudging on...

Without knowing the spacifics, from what is reported, it sounds like the system worked as it was designed to in a fairly safe manner.

I'm not a big fan of nuclear energy, but I do know that the system design is high scrutinized long before the construction ever begins thus making it as safe as is possible.
