FORT MADISON -- For years to come, looking at a Christmas tree will hold a new meaning for a 41-year-old man.

Earlier this week, local police arrested Kevin Lee Shrum of Fort Madison, charging him in an initial police complaint with simple domestic abuse assault. He allegedly used a part of a Christmas tree to hit his girlfriend.
