IT'S A MIRACLE! I'M CURED! . . . A man in Auckland, New Zealand, accepted $500,000 in donations from the city's churches over five years after he told people he had cancer. By cancer, he meant gambling addiction. He was arrested for theft by deception.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

That last one is a classic example of the world we live in today.High school senior, smart kid wants to be a forensic scientist or whatever, gets ripped off so she goes for help to no avail and then takes matters upon herself with stunning success.Great.Just one question, why did this chick think it might be a good idea to leave $100 in her locker at school?Twice?

Hey there Makarovguy, good to see you! You know darn well why! Some of these children are privileged enough, that $200 to them is $20 to you or me. At least this kid had the Intestinal Fortitude enough to set up a camera and nail that Hall monitor. Instead of making a big scene like a crybaby.

Hey Randilly,I have no problem with what she did with the cameras.I think its pretty dang cool as a matter of fact. But $200 being roughly one fourth of my monthly income,I wouldnt leave $5 unattended in a locker.Actually it comes down to principal.Whats mine is mine and I aim to keep it that way.I was thinking in a broader sense.
